Since I started the blog a few months ago I’ve been doing what every new blogger does. Trying out different posts, writing about different things and generally just trying to find my way, and my place in the blogosphere.
As I look over the posts I’ve done so far I must admit, I feel a bit lost. I think I’ve lost focus – or possibly never really had a defined focus in the first place. Perhaps this is common for all new bloggers until you’ve tested the waters and figured out the direction you want to go. Maybe everyone just jumps right in the middle and touches on a bit of everything.
I’ve tried to justify it as labelling myself a ‘Lifestyle Blogger’. Somehow I think that allows me the freedom to write about whatever comes into my mind. But as I look around at other lifestyle bloggers, they do all seem to have one key focus – whether it’s about living a healthier lifestyle, concentrating on how things around the home and hobbies feed into their lifestyle, or how travel and days out shape their experiences.
So what’s my focus?
When I started the blog back in March, I did so with the intention of documenting the true path to a happy marriage. But as I look back over my posts, I haven’t actually touched on marriage all that much in comparison to other posts. This is something that I’m incredibly passionate about – more so than my various upcycling projects or day trips out.
So from today I’m setting a new direction for the blog. Yes I’m only in my infancy as a blogger, and perhaps it’s too early to change course, but better to iron out what I actually want out of the blog first and foremost before continuing on down a path of seemingly random life snippets.
With Love in Mind has a message, and it always has. It’s about how everything my husband and I do as a married couple has us in mind, has our marriage in mind, has love in mind. Everything we do from the mini breaks to the date nights and decorating our home, we do with love in mind.
So what does this mean for the blog?
Much of the topics will remain. The breaks we take, the date nights we plan, the ways we make our house into a loving home, all contribute to our married lives together. It’s just that now I’ll write about these things, well, With Love in Mind! How have these experiences contributed to helping us maintain a happy marriage. You’ll still be able to get your UK travel inspiration and home décor fixes – just with a different slant and a new twist.
I’ll also be adding a few new topics – delving into the lives of other married couples, taking inspiration from other marriage blogs and couples travel blogs. I’ll be researching what makes a happy marriage, how couples have stayed together through the toughest of times, and opening up about our own marriage – the ups and the downs (no matter how hard or how brutally honest I may have to be). All in the name of staying on the path of a happy marriage.
Hope you guys stick around to see what’s to come…
